BAMA Appoints John Morris as Chief Executive

The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association, BAMA, has appointed Dr.John Morris as its new Chief Executive. He replaces Sue Rogers, who is retiring at the end of March 2012 and who has led the Association for 18 years. Dr. Morris, who is currently with Crown Aerosols, joins BAMA in March 2012.
Dr. Morris is currently Chairman of BAMA, a post he has held for the past year. He has served on BAMA’s Executive Committee since 2005. His successor as Chairman – a non-executive post - will be vice-chairman, Ian Mackinnon of Swallowfield.
John Morris gained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Bradford and also holds a B.Tech. Honours degree in Chemistry. He began his career with Johnson & Johnson as a scientist and buyer. He has gone on to hold posts in Laporte Industries, working in a variety of senior management roles across a range of chemical industry sectors before moving to Swift Adhesives where he became the UK Managing Director. Latterly, since December 2003, he has held the post of Sales Manager at Crown Packaging Commercial UK Ltd, Aerosols.
Sue Rogers says: “I congratulate John Morris and am delighted that my Executive Committee colleagues have chosen him to lead BAMA.
“In our fifty year history, I am only the second person to hold this post and I am sure that John will find the role as interesting and rewarding as I have done. It has been an honour and a pleasure to play a leading role in the aerosol industry. The Association has played a major role in promoting safety and sustainability in the aerosol sector and I have no doubt that John’s experience and knowledge will stand BAMA in good stead in the coming years”.
John Morris said: BAMA is one of the most professional and reputable trade associations in the UK with a long history of serving its members by providing the best advice, developing industry standards and leading on issues such as sustainability and recycling. To be chosen to lead this association by the Executive Committee is an honour and a privilege and I shall do my utmost to build on the excellent leadership of my predecessor Sue; I wish her a very long and happy retirement.”
