Introduction to Aerosol Technology
The Stratford Hotel, Stratford Upon Avon
This course is designed to provide a good understanding of how an aerosol works, how it is made, what affects the performance of an aerosol product as well as the environmental and regulatory considerations that need to be taken into account.
The Course Content
The following topics will be covered:
- What is an aerosol and how does it work?
- Tinplate aerosol cans
- Aluminium aerosol cans
- Glass & plastic containers
- Aerosol valves
- Aerosol filling
- Propellants
- Formulation
- Regulations and Environmental issues
In response to growing interest in non metallic can materials, we have added a presentation on plastic and glass containers to the list of topics. There will be a discussion on container choice on the first day.
Who should attend?
The course is designed for anyone new to the industry or wishing to update their knowledge of the aerosol. It is targeted at supervisor level/laboratory staff and above. The course is also well suited to those experienced in one area of the industry but wishing to enhance their knowledge of other areas.

REACH Workshop
BAMA Offices, London
With the deadline for registering chemicals manufactured over 1000t per year approaching on 1st December 2010, companies will be discussing the details of how they use chemicals with their suppliers. BAMA will be holding an informal Workshop to bring Members ‘up-to-speed’ with some of the tools that have been developed to facilitate this process. The Workshop will also look at how Members can gather data to discharge some of their other obligations under REACH such as responding to consumer requests for information.
The Workshop Content
• REACH - what it means for the various parts of the aerosol supply chain
e.g. fillers, can and Valve makers, marketers.
• Communicating with suppliers e.g. Mapping uses, understanding data needs,
environmental fates.
• Communicating downstream e.g. producing extended safety data sheets.
• Responding to consumer requests for information.
Who should attend?
Anyone involved in REACH, especially if it is your job to discuss how you use chemicals in your aerosols with your suppliers and customers. The Worksop will be useful to can and valve makers as well as to formulators.

Transport of Aerosols
9.30am - 3.30pm
This training course will enable employees involved in the consignment of aerosols for transport to acquire the necessary knowledge to enable them to understand the requirements for safe shipment for aerosols.
The course will cover the transport regulations changes that were made in 2009. More importantly, the course will cover future 2011 changes that will have a major impact on the aerosol industry.

Half Day Induction Programme for New Employees
Members: Free
Non-Members: £10.00
This provides a framework for a half day induction training package for employees new to working in an aerosol manufacturing environment. It includes a programme of areas that should be covered and some support material for aerosol specific subjects. This induction programme is designed to be added to and amended by you, and is available on CD as Microsoft Word documents.
