Have a think…here are some things to consider for each category

  • Aerosol of the Year – a new aerosol product made in the UK but sold ANYWHERE in the world.
  • Aerosol Packaging - aerosol PACKAGING made in the UK but sold ANYWHERE in the world. Can include the can/actuator/valve/new branding or update in design etc.
  • Sustainability – product or company related – CSR, reduction in carbon footprint – have you been innovative with your logistics and manufacturing programmes?
  • Process Safety and Training – product or company related. Look at the training processes and new systems you have in place. Highlight your apprenticeship schemes and HR initiatives. Think of staff involvement and business safety in addition to the manufacturing element.
  • NEW for 2019: Aerosol in Action photography - Member companies are welcome to submit a relevant image of a product or process which illustrates the theme of "Aerosol in Action".

The 2018 BAMA Awards – Results Announced

The 2018 winners of the BAMA Awards were selected by a panel drawn from the worlds of retailing, politics and environmental sustainability. The judges were: Lisa Hipgrave who is the director of the UK fragrance association, IFRA.  Matt Sykes who is technical liaison manager at the metal packaging manufactures association, MPMA, and Paul Jenkins who is the founder of the packaging consultancy service, Packhub.

The winners are:

Aerosol of the Year Winner:
James Briggs for RENU Action Paint.  The judges were pleased to receive the samples of this product and to try them themselves. We believe it is likely to be great success.

Aerosol of the Year Runner up:
Batista hair benefits from Church and Dwight.  The judges thought that extending the dry shampoo concept to offer the same benefits as traditional shampoos and conditioners was an excellent range development for the Batiste brand.

Aerosol Packaging Winner:
The Enhanced Mist Technology from Lindal Group.  Lindal supplied us with samples for the judges to use and they couldn’t believe that a spray quality this fine could be created by a compressed gas spray system.

Aerosol Packaging Runner Up:

Eyeris from Ball Aerocan. The judges were impressed with the incredible print quality on a container printed in the round and look forward to seeing products hitting the shelf with this enhanced print quality.

Sustainability Winner:
Grundon Waste Management for the AeroPak aerosol recycling facility.  As the circular economy package continues to develop the judges felt that recycling systems of this kind are essential for our industry to ensure we have a coherent recycling message to present to regulators.

Sustainability Runner Up:
Unilever for their revolutionary hairspray.  Given the complexity of hairspray formulation, and the importance of how the spray works relative to its function, the judges thought this a worthy recipient of the runner up award and look forward to similar developments coming in to the UK and European mark.

Sustainability Highly Commended:
Plastipak for their Clean Tech recycling plant.  The judges were very impressed that Plastipak had taken on the operation of their plant in 2016 and look forward to seeing plastic aerosols being recycled there in the very near future.

Process Safety and Training Winner:
Alloway for their Filled aerosol cap and spray off verification system. The benefits for aerosol manufacturers were obvious to see and the judges were proud to be able to make this award to Alloway as the drive for continual improvements in manufacturing safety should be recognised.

Process Safety and Training Highly Commended:
The highly commended award goes to Cascade for their CT4214/CT4404 All in one leak detection and analysis system.  The judges thought the benefits this system could offer in both production and R&D would be of great benefit to the industry.
